I was born and raised in Reno, Nevada—where the desert meets the mountains, the sun meets the snow, and a writer meets plenty of interesting people.
After graduating from the Reynold’s School of Journalism, I went to work telling stories in my community. I gravitated to the kinds of stories I wanted to read: how the town’s artists responded to gentrification in older neighborhoods, which local bands were playing the summer concert series by the river, or how new businesses and startups planned to diversify a stale economy.
I wanted to write about people, and that simple ethos has been the basis of my writing career ever since. As a journalist, newspaper editor, and copywriter, the majority of my work is simply finding someone with a story to tell, and helping them find the words.
When I’m not at my desk, you can find me in the kitchen, in the garden, in the mountains, or at the bar.
